Looking for suggestions

I would like to start working on writing some Android Apps, have a few ideas but not finding things in the market so figured I'd try learning. I've done some playing around with writing programs in basic way back in the day, and done some editing of lisp routine apps for Autocad but that's it for my programing experience.

I'm looking for suggestions for a study book to pickup to get me started.

I've seen this one suggested before:
Beginning Android 2, Mark Murphy, (9781430226291) Paperback - Barnes & Noble

Reading the reviews on this though it sounds like it makes some assumptions of Java knowledge I don't have.

Anybody out there got suggestions for me?

Thanks,

Brent.

App Ideas?

are you looking for app ideas or for books to help you develop the ideas you already have?

edit* nevermind, just reread the post, im dumb :D lol

No problem, I can be difficult to understand at times so I could have messed it up too.

But yeah, I'm looking for suggestions for a study book to help me learn to write Android apps.
