low storage issue

My android has 8gb of internal storage along with an 8gb sd card but i can only have 1 or 2 apps installed at once

What phone? What is the RAM capacity. How much bloat ware is installed by the carrier? If you only have 8 gigs and Verizon as a carrier, they won't leave you with much space for apps. On the older phones that had RAM in the "M" bytes, after 10-15 apps you had to delete one to add another.

ZTE Maven 4.25gb system memory besides all the google apps and the usual apps like contacts and calculator there is att navigator, kindle, caller name id, dolby audio and lookout. Doubt it makes a difference but it's a Go Phone.
