Make Motorola Droid 2 Work on Modern Wifi?

I bought an old Moto Droid 2 for nostalgia (was my first Android phone ten years ago). I was hoping to use it as a wifi device. However, when it connects to my tablet's hotspot (secured with WPA2), it connects, but promptly disconnects. If I disable security, it connects and functions, but obviously that's unacceptable.

Is there any way to get this relic to work with modern wifi security or am I SOL when it comes to that?

Wow....that brings back memories. I never owned a Droid 2, but had several original Droids and a Droid 3. They all connected to my home WiFi successfully using WPA2 security. It's been a long time but I kind of remember something about a Setting in WiFi - Advanced, something about when being connected to a hotspot. Will have to try & remember.....
