making a 3g hotspot.

is there a way to make a 3g hotspot without having to pay for the service or rooting the droid? I know you can pay to be able to do it, and a friend rooted his droidx and is able to use the cell signal to create a wireless hotspot. is there any sort of app that would allow one to do so without having to root the phone? I'm not comfortable with rooting my droidx. I'm afraid something could go wrong and mess up my phone then since it was rooted i'd be stuck with a broken phone. dancedroid

no sir sure isn't you can root or pay thats your 2 choices you can wire tether thrue the market theres a app fo it thats what used to do b4 i rooted awhile back it was pretty fast but just plug your phone it your pc and and it works but thats the only way
