Making Handcent my default

I installed Handcent on my Thunderbolt yesterday and every time I get a message i get a notification from Handcent and the message app that came with the phone.

How can I make it so I only get notifications from Handcent?
I've done this with my original Droid but can't remember how it's done. I scrolled through every setting I can think of and couldn't find anything.

Open the stock messenger. Press menu. Select more. Uncheck notification.

Thanks, I did it before and was having a huge brain fart.

I did the same. I liked the stock messager but couldn't take the slideshow picture message crap.
