manual software updates - droid bionic

I've got a Motorola Bionic which fails to update the android OS. It's currently running 5.9.902XT875 / Android version 2.3.4. and the install fails when I attempt the OTA update. Support can't help me and neither can the stores. The store did suggest that I attempt manaul updates, but suggested that I do the install release by release, rather than going directly to the most current version (ISC?). Are there step by step instructions on how to do this including links to each version of software that I will need? Thanks in advance for any advice -
