Market Issues

I just received a new (original) Droid from Verizon to replace a defective one, and had my programs backed up on the SD card using a paid back-up program from the market. I successfully installed all of my programs and settings to the new phone, however now the market does not recognize the downloaded programs when I go to the download part, as before with the old phone it had all of my installed programs remembered. How do I solve this problem so that the Market download recognizes my installed downloads and updates them? Thanks!

Unfortunately when you use those programs to restore your apps they will not recognize updates in the Market. The only thing you can do is to look for updates yourself and install them. Once you've done that however it should automatically update from that point on.

Maybe appbrain will do it.

I'm not going to scrap my phone to test this, but I wonder:

If you get the appbrain.com app and sync your phone with the site it might start seeing the updates again, at least in the app if not the Market itself.

Thanks, never knew the appbrain thing existed. Looks like I will have to barcode scan the computer screen on appbrain (nice feature) and just reload all of my programs. When I do this, the market remembers them and is listed again. dancedroid

If you choose Manage and Sync in the app you get a Sync with AppBrain button at the bottom. You'll have to log into Google through the app, but then it will sync your app list with appbrain.com. At that point you should get a list of all apps that need updates. Then you choose Perform installs and OK your way through each app.

No need to individually scan and load each app.

Privacy Note: Go to appbrain.com, choose My Apps next to the search bar. Bottom of the right column you'll see the ability to have your app list public or private. Just mentioning it because I don't remember whether the default was private or public.
