Message Limit

I re-set my Message Limit to 10 instead of 200 and I thought new threads would just start for the same contact. However, I lost all texts previous to the last 10. Are these texts lost for good? I re-set the limit back to 200 but I don't see the old texts.

Sorry, they are gone for good. No way to get back a deleted text.
