Messaging Feature - separating icons

I recently learned how to make separate icons on my home screen for the different email accounts I have - a HUGE help! But I'm also trying to do the same for the messaging function too. Can / How do I put a separate icon on my home screen for JUST text messages? I see one for VM in the main apps page, but not texts and i don't want to have to go into the ALL messages if possible.

Have you tried Desktop Visualizer from the market?

I'm so new at this, i wouldn't have even known to try an app. So is it safe to assume that you can just do this with a shortcut? If so, I got the desktop visualizer app, but can't seem to make it work....
