Microphone not working for text

When I click on the microphone on the keyboard it shows a red line through it. Does anyone know why, and how I can get this to work again? I just want to click on the mircophone and be able to talk and have it type my text.

I've not had this issue. Are you able to use the Google Voice Search app to send a text?
