In yet another bid to distance themselves from Google, Cyanogen has announced that they will heavily integrate Cortana into the next version of Cyanogen OS. By now Google does a pretty great job at digital assistance with their Google Now. Cyanogen CEO Kirt McMaster feels that Cortana will help his software further stand out against Android and iOS.
Cortana receives deep system access which allows it to control 3rd party apps like Spotify. Even Siri is not capable of powering Spotify in this way. McMaster said that Cortana will help Cyanogen reach its goal of no dependencies on Google within the next few years.
