Missing My Genie Widget

I upgraded to the Bionic from the OG Droid. Love the phone, but I dealy miss the News & Weather (Genie) widget. I used that multiple times per day

Is there anyone planning to port it over to work with the new phones?

Well, I'm assuming you're referring to the widget that had the type of weather on the left and headlines on the right? If I recall, that was part of HTC Sense, and as this is a Motorola phone, you must fend for yourself. Check the app store -- some apps there are great.

this is a possible option that i found interesting -- wallpaper that goes to accuweather.com

hold down on desktop, choose wallpapers, then live wallpapers, then forest

after installation -- tap on wall paper shows current temperature -- then tap again to go to accuweather.com for full forcast.

Actually it was off the Nexus One phone which means it came from Google as a part of Android v2.1.

It worked great with v2.0 and even v1.6 (I think someone may have ported it).

I will keep my fingers crossed that someone (google or someone smarter than me) will make it work with v2.3

Thanks for the info, however, I never used the weather. The news is what I used every day and what I am missing.

This app is FCing on me. Did you just download, install, and it worked? Or did you move it to /system/app using root?

Nope. FC still. Not sure what's going on. Oh well, I'll keep researching.

Thank you for that, works great for me. I myself missed the 24 hour graph view for weather details. I haven't had any issues with FC's yet.

It worked fine for me, no root installed (yet). Thanks a million! This was essentially the only big thing missing from motoblur.
