New member here. Got the Otterbox case in today for my D3. I was really interested in the VZW windshield mount for my phone but sadly I realized it wouldn't fit this case. Looking around the house, I spotted an unused spare Garmin GPS windshield mount. For chuckles I tested the fit. It was close, about 1.5-2 mm too wide to fit the case. So I took out my handy micro torch and heated the upper arm for just a few seconds and bent it down. Perfect fit!! Unfortunately I over heated it slightly and bubbled the plastic a little but i really don't care. The plastic didn't lose its integrity and so far is holding up fine.
If I've done this right, some pics will be attached showing the phone in the mount.
I also did a quick search on amazon.com and found these mounts sold for under 7 bucks. heres an example
