Moto droid getting hot

My moto droid starting to get very warm lately, even when not in use, when I do use it it get hot, Also noticed on a full charge the battery drains by lunch, For how much I use it daily I used to get a full day, now by 12 noon it is almost done, Never got thiis warm.

I had a similar issue with my first Droid. My phone was still stock then. I took it to verizon and the guy at the store said they have had a lot of battery issues. Overheating dropping charge very quickly. Apps or updates could be the issue but you battery could be crap also.

Are you rooted running a faster kernel by chance?
