According to a trademark filing. Motorola may have something new coming. The name Moto G was granted to Motorola quite recently, but what is it? Since the launch of the Moto X, Motorola’s CEO Dennis Woodside did mention that a cheaper version of the phone would be in the works soon after the X’s launch. Could the Moto G be it?

Droid Life recieved a tip last week from an indirect Verizon rep who stated he had been told of a Moto G that was “coming soon,” but nothing was provided to substantiate those claims. With this new trademark filing popping up, we can finally start trying to put 2 and 2 together, and hopefully find out more about what Moto has coming down the pipe.

Some are speculating that the “G” in Moto G could stand for Google, and that this device could be a Google Play Edition of the Moto X. Droid Life believes otherwise since they received a tip from a Verizon rep and that it could be coming soon, they find it hard to believe that a GPE Moto X would work on Verizon’s network.

Thanks for posting this P2k! Nice find!

My Portuguese is not good enough to get into the details, but supposedly Moto G is the name that is going to be used in Brazil for the phone that will be known here as the moto DVX
Kinda like the Butterfly/DNA

...a cheaper version? ...at this point you really can't get much cheaper (in quality) than motorola :disappointed:. They need to stop diluting the market with cheap crap!

If motorola makes another HIGH END android phone with a physical keyboard, a user-swappable battery (not this embedded nonsense) and a microSD slot I would be highly likely to upgrade. Until then I'm not interested in any of their ludicrous ideas.

Physical keyboards are dead. You either evolve or go the way of dinosaurs.
