One of the defining factors of the new Moto Z line from Lenovorla will be the ability to attach add-on modules to the device. While this is similar to the LG G5, the way Motorola went about it with this device is a bit different than LG's approach. With the LG G5, the add-on modules slide into the bottom like a cartridge. With the Moto Z line, the add-on modules will attach magnetically to the back of the device, and the contact points allow for the extra functionality of whatever the module is designed to do.
One could argue that Motorola's approach is a bit more elegant than LG's attachment method, but either should offer some of the same extra functions, like stereo speakers or a more powerful camera. This latter assumption turns out to be accurate, at least according to the latest tease from Lenovo PR. The marketing materials seem to indicate that an optional, attachable camera will be available for the Moto Z, and its primary claim to fame will be a 10X optical zoom.
That seems like a very tempting option for the shutterbugs out there who don't want to shell out for a high dollar camera, yet want something more robust than the smartphone camera built into their device. What do you folks think?
