Motorola Verizon sent out and update about 2 weeks ago for my phone. Since that update I get random reboots, this is not as bad as the phone will not stay turned off. I fly for business and have found the phone has turned back on after I have turned it off. I confirmed this last night as I made sure phone was off last night when I went to bed and found it was on this morning. Has anyone had this issue?

Ditto, powers back on

trying to find a fix for the same problem, it will always power off the 2nd time. But a pain when walking into work and power phone off, only to power back on a few minutes later. some said to pull the battery and it fix's it. Not sure if that is really a "fix" or temp. solution, but worth a try. some say do a factory reset..but think that will erase all my contact info?

Are you plugging it in? A good short term solution is take the battery out everytime to be sure it doesnt turn on but unfortunately i dont think their is a way to rollback to previous update without rooting your device. Im a D1 user, but maybe you can use rsdlite on you d2 and flash the previous firmware. If your at an official level and like dont monkey with anything, you should be able to take your device into Verizon and show a tech their the problem and most likely they will just give you a new one.

Have pulled battery, real pain as I have protective case on phone. Still repowers by itself. Pulled battery because I was on cross country flight and heard the damn thing ringing with incoming call in the over head in my backpack. Turned it off in front of flight attendant, 1/2 hour later it started ringing again, then pulled battery.
Random reboots a real pain, go to answer phone, reboots, go to unlock phone , reboots. Not all the time but enough to begin getting annoying.

Turn it on Airplane mode while in flight as that will prevent any networks from connecting. I realize you want to bypass all software and just want the device off but it doesn't appear like that helps you. You can get a quick access airplane mode widget from the market....will actually save some battery to. Your device should just be taken to VZ if your having all those problems. they should just warranty it and swap it out for a new one.
