Move phone contacts to Google clout

I just switched from a Blackberry to the Droid today, the store transferred all my contact from the BB. They have not synced with Google cloud yet. The cloud has way more stuff (email addresses) than I want on the Droid. How do I get the contacts from the Droid to the google cloud, and not get the stuff currently on the cloud over the Droid?
I do have auto-sync turned on.
Thanks
Jay

I read in another post here the answer you are looking for. Go to Contacts > Menu > Import/Export > Import from SD card. That should get them so that they will sync. You might have to turn on auto-sync for this to happen.

My contacts Verizon imported would never synch even trying all the suggestions in other threads.

I exported my contacts to the sim card, copied them to my computer and imported them into Gmail contacts from there.

Deleted all the contacts from the phone and then synched with Google.

Works fine now.
