Multi-task---stop watch?

I'm going to buy my first smart phone this year.

I walk almost every day and I turn my Alias 2's stop watch on so I will know just how long I walked. But if a call comes in or if I want to use the browser, that kills the the stop watch function.

Can I use the stop watch(assuming the X has one?) on a X and receive or send a call and/or surf the web without stopping the stop watch?
