When I put my phone in the multimedia dock, it begins to charge but does not enter the dock mode (horizontal, etc.). Help!!!

Thanks,
Warren

try to physical put it in dock mode from the notifications tab and see if that works and or pull the battery out and try again.

I assume u mean that pull down window shade looking thing on the home screen. The only thing listed there is my quick settings app. Battery pull doesn't work either. Basically phone is acting like its plugged into a regular wall charger.

thats weird you should i have a little picture of the dock on the top of the screen and if you click it then it will launch into that mode.

I had this issue in the past myself. It seemed to go away after installing 2.0.1 when it became available. Sometimes it says "multimedia station" but doesn't switch until I hit the "Home" button and it goes there.

hmm, if you don't have the icon then that is weird. mine doesn't always go into the mode automatically, but the icon in the notification bar always shows up. i just click on it or click home and it goes into the mode.

No icon. Basically it looks like my phone looks when I plug it into a regular wall charger. Nothing changes except for the battery icon.

Phone works fine in car dock so is it safe to assume the multimedia deck is defective or not necessarily? The reason I ask is because I thought the mm deck is basically just a stand with a well placed magnet or is there more to it?

hmm, so if the car dock works, the magnet in the phone should be ok, maybe the magnet in the stand went bad....not sure how...

take a small, round fridge magnet and see if you can get it to work that way.

We've been manufacturing the MIKRADLES mentioned here on the forum's and sold on eBay: MOTOROLA DROID MULTIMEDIA DOCK MIKRADLE (MAHOGANY) NEW! - eBay (item 140367436991 end time Jan-12-10 14:08:30 PST)

When looking for sources and types of magnets, we discovered they are not all created equal. Our study found that many magnets on the market were weak, and either did not repeatedly enable the multimedia mode, or sometimes invoked the auto mode instead (on both sides of the magnet - polarity difference should show one or the other). We would like to have used a lesser expensive magnet, but had to go with better quality at a higher expense to guarantee this would always work. I don't think Motorola uses a cheap magnet either, so that's probably not your issue, but as someone stated - trying it with a ref magnet might show you had a bad one in your dock. Though we try every magnet before shipping, it is possible Motorola does not and a bad one could have slipped through.

Please do post here with your results and findings. We'd all like to know how this issue resolves! :)
