Multimedia Dock

I just purchased the multimedia dock. I like the dock, but I have an issue with how annoyingly bring the screen is when in the dock, even when in night mode. It's s bright, that I really can't use the thing as a alarm clock, which was my intention.

So, I curious, is there any way to set which app launches when in the dock? Or is there a way to get the screen to go completely blank and have it display the time when the screen is touched?

you can kill the display and the phone, along with the alarm clock will still function. Just hit the screen power button to turn the display off.
