Music Players-Playlists

Is there no application out there which will allow you to download playlists from Windows Media Player and have it display as a playlist on your Droid X? Even my Blackberry Storm had this feature. But, so far I've not been successful in finding anything that lets me do that with the Droid. Pain in the b..t to have to create your playlists you already have created in Windows on the Droid again. Of course, maybe I just don't know what I'm doing. Any help appreciated.

All you need to do is drag your playlist from your computer over to your droid. Here's the long version.

  1. Connect droid to computer as a removable drive
  2. Open music folder on droid
  3. Open Windows Media Player
  4. Drag songs from droid to "list" window in WMP
  5. Click on "Save list" icon at top
  6. Go to My Music\Playlists on computer
  7. Drag newly created playlist to droid music folder
  8. Playlist will show up in stock music player.

Thank you for the response. So, if I understand you correctly.....you first download everything to your Droid and then move the songs you want in a playlist over to the WMP playlist pane, name it and drag it to the droid music folder? Seems like a lot of work, when you already have the WMP playlists made up and just want to move each of them over to the Droid and have them show up as the playlists you've already made. Am I understanding you correctly? Or, am I just being dense?:)

You should wait a few minutes after copying over your playlist. I thought the Droid X was not recognizing them either, but in fact it was indexing all of my music and took a few minutes for the playlist to finally appear in the music player (even though I could see it in File Manager). Wait an hour and come back later. I bet you'll see it.

Sorry for the late reply, had some fun and games with my water heater that comitted suicide and flooded my kitchen <sigh>

As far as playlists, it appears it looks for the location of the files, so that's the reason I created with the songs already on my droid. You can try and drag your playlists over and it *might* work. And as BMWBig6 says, it takes a bit for the player to update so it won't be available right away.

When I copied my music over to my droid, I put them first in a general folder like "Jazz", then by artist, then album. That way I can just drag the whole jazz catalog, or the artist folder etc to the playlist and get what I want.

Of course that won't help you use your current playlists, but maybe give you ideas if you have to recreate them :)
