music symbols in text

LG K7 Lollipop text converts "-8" to music symbol. For instance sending a score of 83-80 will show as 83{music symbol)0. Tried it in an e-mail and it does not do it. Is this a keyboard or text app problem?

Welcome to the forum.
If it's not doing it when using something other than the text app I'd suggest try am aftermarket text app and see if it acts up there, if not switch your default to the aftermarket one. Chomp SMS, Textra, Go SMS and others are ones forum members seem to prefer over stock messaging apps regardless.
Please post back if an aftermarket app has the same issue .
