So here's the story. I've had my Droid since around 7am on Friday when it was released. I've used it and played around.... it was great. Today I had to go somewhere in my car, and I put the phone down in the cup holder which I normally do. I get to my destination and pick up the phone. I tried to check if I had any emails or whatever. I couldn't get the screen to turn on. I tried everything... opened and closed the keyboard... pressed the buttons... pressed and held down the power button... pressed and held it down again.... nothing. I finally took out the battery, put it back in, and then it was able to power up again. Once it was up, it seemed fine..... but seriously, WTF!!

Anyone else see this?

I had that happen to me once on Saturday afternoon, but a battery pull did the trick.

Sometimes you just NEED to pull out the battery.

Be thankful you can remove the battery, unlike some other phones ;)

I'm quite disappointed... This and a few other glitches and bugs that I've found.

So bring it back and see if they will exchange it for you.

There are tons of reports of people getting their device exchanged for a new one.

VZW, Google, and Motorola seem to be getting bugs fixed quickly.

There is an OTA update scheduled for 12/11/2009 to fix some issues/bugs.

If the problem persists, take it to VZW store and see if they can swap it out.

It's a brand new, first run phone. There is bound to be issues that pop up.

No worries.

Battery pulls? What is this, Crackberry?:byeBB:

Well I knew what I was getting into with a new phone and all. It's VERY good to hear that there's a fix coming out on 12/11. I sure hope it fixes a lot!

Besides these things.... the Droid is totally awesome and kicks @$$!!!

Mine did that the first day and I haven't had a problem since.

You talking December 11th or November 12th?

ahhhh like the old Storm. Is this the TRUE storm 2? Minor bug fixs but still a battery pull every few days?

December 11th, 2009 is the tentative date for the software update.

lol what i thought exactly..

I had the same problems some people have complained about. I had mine shutdown many times during the day and I had to pull the battery to get it to turn on. I took mine back to the store, at first they said they had to be able to duplicate the problem, but they eventually exchanged it. The odd thing was when they were transferring my contacts, the guy said I had over 1100, NO WAY those are mine I said. I took a look and I didn't any of them. I have no idea who the contacts were, but I can say they were local to my location. The new phone is working great!!

yeah their is a new glitches here and there but the phone is brand new and they have already announced the software update. You got to remember each new hyped phone that came out, each had issues and with my memory (not being the best), they had alot more issues then the droid. I am very very pleased with the phone, I am coming from blackberry phones which I have used for the past 3 years.
