Anyone do anything similar?
I put together a purchase requisiton of exactly what I want; make, model, options, color, etc.
Write an email to all the dealers within 100 miles (or however far you'd be willing to travel). Include all the dealers email addys in the to: block so they can all see you're dealing.
State that any email replies without an out-the-door price will be deleted. Also state that if you have the lowest price you will schedule a test drive.
Make one trip to a dealer to pick up your vehicle. (I ABHORE DEALING WITH CAR SALESMEN).
I've bought my last 4 cars using this method and I feel I've gotten decent deals on all of them. I've also bought one from Cars Direct and it's a good way to find a reference price.
