i rooted my Motorola Droid and now it stays off and does not turn on at all, no boot loop, no big "Motorola M" loop, nothing, just a screen that stays off and never turns on...when i plug it into a charger, the charging light turns on but the phone once again is and stays off...i don't think i tried everything so please help me with any advice, i'm open to anything.

thanks, in advance.

(BTW this is not my phone it is my brothers, but im the one fixing it)

First thing I would check is whether the battery is actually charged. Could be a bad battery or a bad charger. Can you borrow a charged battery from someone?

also, try leaving it on the charger for an hour or so without touching it

Well what did you do to fix this?

I have an incredible that wont power on..
:welcome: to the forum!

Have you done what others suggested and left it plugged into the wall charger for a while before trying to power it back on? How about swapping batteries or charging the one you have externally?

Thanks for the welcome.
I don't have the phone right now. I gave it to someone and they claim it doesn't work so they're shipping it back to me.

I do have an incredible myself that works fine running froyo.

I came from blackberry where you can completely wipe (brick) the phone and reinstall the OS. Can that be done with Android? I'm wondering if thats what needs to be done to the Inc that's not powering on.

It's called a factory data reset, and yes you can. It's inthe privacy section of your Droids settings.

But can that be reached if the phone does not power on at all? from what that sounds like, I dont think its the same thing as completely reloading the phone via PC like you can do on blackberry.

The person I gave it to claims they had VZW troubleshoot over the phone with them, and they also brought it to a vzw store and the techs couldnt help her at all.

I dont personally trust a lot that vzw says regarding their smartphones (ie the bb storm "problems") so im gonna try my best to get this thing going when it gets to me later this week.

The phone has to be turned on to do anything with it, unfortunately, as far as I'm aware. The Droid 1 could be flashed back to stock with SBF files, but the phone had to be turned on for that.

yeah thats what I assumed.

What im talking about is different. I dont think it can be done on android phones..
