my problems with the X so far

here is my current list of "problems", any help that works would be smiled upon:)

1. cannot assign ringtones to individual contacts, whether tone on SD or phone
2. cannot view pics on my SD card in the "gallery"
3. can view pics from the SD using "b&b gallery" from the app store, but STILL cannot assign pics to contacts or wallpaper
4. TERRIBLE battery life (i know you can't help me with that)
5. ringtones/sounds are audible...but unexpectedly quite (yes, the volume is up all the way)

there's more, but i have to play with the phone to remember the rest..

1) Edit Contact. Click on "Additional Info". Scroll down to "Ringtone" and pick the one you want to assign.
4) I have my screen on 100% (hate Auto) and my battery life is great. Turn off WiFi and Bluetooth if you're not using them.
5) I do find that the X seems quieter than the Droid1, so I've adjusted them. Sounds like you may have some issues with yours. Have you considered doing a hard reset?

1) 2 thumbs up...but apparently tapping "additional info" isn't good enough for this p.o.s....i have to hold it down, but it still worked, thanks.

4) wifi and BT were off, but now my screen is on 100%, i'll see if that helps

5) FINALLY...figured out how to do a hard reset on it, using a similar technique as the Droid. ringtone volume is about the same, BUT the problem with the power button not turning the phone on every time seems gone, and i can now assign pictures to contacts too. i still cannot view the ones on the SD card in the normal "gallery", but using the B&B program from the app store, i can view, crop and assign them...so that works great!!

*for anyone who cares, to hard reset The X, i turned off the phone, pulled the battery, put it back in, held 'power' AND 'home' keys UNTIL phone came back on and 'android' dude showed up with a white triangle that had a yellow '!' in it. then i tapped the 'camera' AND 'search' button SIMULTANEOUSLY, (search button is the button that has the magnifying glass on it), i got a blue screen with directions, READ CAREFULLY, used the 'volume' buttons to scroll down to 'wipe cache', use the camera button to select, phone wiped and rebooted and magic happened :)

THANKS HEYCOW!!!!

i'll make sure to post the next round of problems so you can help me out :)

Are you doing Menu Button-->Wallpaper-->Media Gallery to try and search for them? Do you have ASTRO installed? If not, install the free version and it'll let you choose an image on the SD card to use as wallpaper (either through the above path or directly by selecting an image and choosing "Set as".

4) wifi and BT were off, but now my screen is on 100%, i'll see if that helps

BTW just to be clear, having it at 100% WILL suck your battery down, but I like it better brighter. :)

The biggest battery drain is poor coverage so if you can stay out of the middle of nowhere. :)

Okay, can someone please tell me how you used this B&B app to access the pics on your SD card? I just got the app, and I can't see a damn thing that's allegedly saved to the SD card.

I'm more than a little annoyed this morning because I got an email with pics attached; when I saved, it said it was saved to the sd card. Yet, they aren't in the gallery and there seems to be no way to access them. In reading this thread, I downloaded the b&b app, opened the galleries and still don't see the pics I got this morning that are supposedly saved to the sd card.

Vic,

i found a program in theapp store called Pwall(personal wallpaper). theres a demo version which you can use for free, and a pay version. i been using the demo version with success for a couple days now. the only drawback of it is you cant 'crop' your photos b4 assigning it to wallpaper...however the pay version might work that way. but still, i put my sd card in my main computer, dragged a pile of jpeg photos to it in the download folder, put it back in the phone, and i can use any of them for wallpaper now. the gallery cant even open the pics, and b&b only opens a few of them...confused as to why,but pwall seems to work just fine for wallpapers. good luck

I take back this post. PWall only allows you to use 5 photos, AND you CANNOT delete them unless you buy the full App. Yes, it is a very nice, very easy App to use...and I like it a lot, but if you bank at a credit union like mine, they do not allow out of country credit transactions... which means either going to a bank to open a new account to by the .99 App, or deleting it and using a different one...I'm choosing the 2nd option..I'll let you know if I find one I think is worthy..
