My Uploads (process com.google.android.apps.uploader)

Today I noticed that when I sent a text message with a picture attached, that this process showed up in the toolbar saying 'Uploading'.
I have never seen this when sending a text.
When I choose this from the toolbar menu, I didn't see the picture I just sent. But, I did see a few photos from over a year ago, nothing recent.
Can anyone tell me 'what' this process is and what is is supposed to be doing? Where does it store those thumbnails and does it store any more information such as 'where' it was uploading this information, etc.? Also, how can you return to this list, if it is not currently uploading and you click the toolbar icon?
I know this is used for picasa uploads, or I think it is, but, like I said, there was nothing recent in the list and definelty no pictures shown in the recent list from text that were sent with photos.
Thanks for any info!
