One new feature that everyone has been enjoying in the developer preview of Android O is the ability to customize the nav bar through the System UI Tuner. It turns out this feature has been available since Nougat and without the need for root. Previous known methods to change the nav bar in Nougat have instructed users to be rooted, but apparently that has never been required.

The hidden nav bar customization works by running a few commands in adb. Now a developer has put together an app that you can use on compatible devices to make the changes without having to do the commands in adb as well. Compatible devices include Nexus 6, Nexus 5x, Nexus 6P, Google Pixel, Google Pixel XL, OnePlus 3, OnePlus 3T, and Sony Xperia. You can grab the app from the link below.
