Hello.

I have a dropbox folder with a Microsoft Excel document stored in it. This excel file contains a list of web links on it.

My goal is to use my Galaxy S4 phone to open this file though dropbox and then click on the links and then have the web pages open up in my phone browser.

Currently, my Galaxy S4 phone does have the dropbox app on it. My phone is able to access the excel file in dropbox just fine by using the Polaris Office App. However, when I click on the links within the Excel file, it does not forward me to the web pages.

Is there some way for me to click on the links on this Excel file and then be forwarded to the corresponding web pages? Perhaps there is an App other than Polaris which is capable of doing this?

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum

I don't think Polaris can do that but I'm not certain. Allow me to tell you what I do. I have several browsers on my S4 and a bookmarks.html file in DropBox. If I tap on that file I open it in the HTML editor and any link I click on allows me to select the browser I want to use. On my tablet I have that HTML file as a shortcut on my home page. It works really well. Despite having synced all my bookmarks to Firefox from my desktop Firefox, this can come in very handy.

[edit] I'm fairly certain Kingsoft Office can do that as I remember I did it once using that app but I don't remember for sure.

Interesting. I've got a Droid Razr Maxx with Dropbox and QuickOffice Pro and a HP laptop with Ubuntu 12.10 and LibreOffice. I create a spreadsheet with a link using LibreOffice. The link opens in LibreOffice. The link will not open if I access the file via Dropbox on the phone or via QuickOffice Pro linked to the Dropbox account.

You might need to use something like Pancake.IO

This was my problem in a nutshell.....

If I accessed the excel file in dropbox by using a regular computer then it can open the links.

On the other hand, if I accessed the excel file in dropbox using my phone, then it could NOT open the links.

The good news? I tried the recommendation from from leeshor and it works great! I installed King Office(free, full featured version) and it works perfectly.

Thank you leeshor!!
