Need Help. stuck, install failed.....

I am trying to root. have followed the SPrecovery method. used rsd lite. downloaded ese81 update.zip, renamed update.zip, placed on my sd card root. but every time. the install fails. tried downloading again, and from another source. now I am stuck on the menu screen with a failed install error message. please help not sure where to go, or how to get back.

Try just naming it update.

ok, trying it now...... it says it updating, rooting, now says its complete. but the status bar is still moving very slowly. is that ok?

Yeah that's ok you should be able to reboot now.

most excellent. such a simple solution. sorry to have been such a green horn. thank you. now lets see what other trouble i get myself into when i try to add a custom rom. thanks again.
