need help with a droid that refuses to start up

Hi, I have both a Droid and a Droid X. The reason for the two droids is the original droid quit working. I think somehow the actual android 2.2 was deleted off the phone. I was hoping someone may have some advice to getting my droid working again. Any help is greatly appriciated. The phone starts but stops at the circle Motorola logo. Like I said it may just need to have android reinstalled but I really don't know. Thanks for any and all your help in advanced.

Can you boot into recovery (power with X)?

If so you can try link 4 in my sig. Their may be another option if that won't work.
