Need help with possibly unrooting

I got a Droid X2 today and gave my Fascinate to my son. My husband rooted the Fascinate and I cannot get my gmail account out of the phone. It is not set to sync but it won't let me remove my account and his account is on the phone and his mail won't sync. I was able to get his contacts in there but I can't make his mail work. Any suggestions? I tried factory restore but that didn't work. Everything else works but the Gmail.
