Current Phone Model
Samsung G5
Background story-

I dropped my Samsung G5 2 weeks ago, and haven't had a phone since. I've been looking for a replacement, but I'm unsure what to choose. I don't have any upgrade credit with Verizon for another 7 months, so I've been looking for an inexpensive (mostly) temporary, phone. I want to stay with Android, so I've narrowed it down to the Note 3, LG G2, the Nexus 5, or a Galaxy 4. Ideally I'd like to spend $150 or less, and I don't care if it's used.

I appreciate the help, and da*n I'm getting desperate.

The Note 3 was my favorite phone until I bought the Note 4 Edge.

Loved that phone.

I should have added I prefer 4g service, as I'm afraid 3g will be too slow around here. The Note 3 is only 3g Ollie?

Note 3 is 4g also. Ollie was referring to the Note4 edge (next generation Note with an edge). I also had the Note 3 up until 2 months ago. An excellent phone I'm sure you would be happy with. Check out swappa to look for used phones and get an idea of their prices. It is also a very safe place to buy used phones.

Do you want better picture quality? If so, go with the G2. If you want a physically bigger LCD, go with the Note 3.

I had a G2, and it started my love for the G series.

It looks like I should narrow my search down to just the LG G2, or the Note 3. Thanks for the advice Ollie and UrbanBounca. I was on Swappa earlier today looking, just couldn't make a decision. There are a few well priced Lg G2's on my local Craigslist, I suppose that's too risky?

Have you called VZW to see if they will give you an early upgrade?

Welcome to the forum! Stay away from Craigslist when it comes to used smartphones, Swappa is your best & safest option. Good luck!

Welcome..asking friends if they have any phones in their junk drawers...and Swappa..are your best bet..if you do the Craigslist route..meet at a vzw store..have your simcard in the device after the imei has been verified.. Then and only then..hand them the cash...

And be careful ..anytime you're meeting another person and cash is involved...its dangerous now days..

If you do buy off craigslist, meet the person at a Verizon store. Have Verizon verify a good ESN then pay cash. A) You are in a very public place (Heard of folks getting robbed when they meet the"seller") and B) Verizon will keep you from buying an expensive paperweight.

I concur on the Note 3 or G2. I had the Note 3 and loved it. My daughter has the G2 and likes it very much.

Good luck!

Enjoy your new phone. It's going to feel like a maverick compared to your old one.

I have a G3 and it was a very nice phone. I like the overall size of it.
