I just updated to gingerbread and loving it. My question is can I still use rims or do I have to wait for rims specifically meant for 2.3?

Only if you are on one of the leaked versions. If you got the update by pulling it or was notified you can't root it as of now. But there are some roms just not sure if the can be used with 596 update.

Ok lol now my next question is, is there a way to downgrade from gingerbread to froyo. My phone has been randomly shutting itself off for no reason. Lol

You can sbf back to Froyo. That's the only way. I would get the .595 leak and run the ZombieStomped ROM. Its very stable
