Had the DX since Dec 2010, really like the phone. Have rooted it running Liberty3 v2. Its been solid never had any problems etc. Well a couple of days ago the unthinkable happened and it got wet. I didn't realize it when it happened, it was in my coat pocket and it was raining, but I did pull the battery as soon as I realized, it had been wet for somewhere between 15 and 30 minutes. Anyway let it it sit for 48 hours, replaced battery and I can only get it to boot to the bootloader screen or as far as the red M, that's it can't get into recovery at all.
Did a bunch of reading while I was waiting for it to dry out and the solution for that problem is to SBF. I use the RSD Lite method, the phone appears to take the software up date and it will show pass when all is said and done, but will not boot past the M and still can't get into recovery.
I'm guessing the phone is Toast, my "official" upgrade date is not until August. I guess that is when I get the "best" pricing. Wirefly has great upgrade pricing but those prices only seem to be effective on or after the "official" upgrade date, I can certainly get another phone directly from Verizon and I'm thinking of going all out for the RAZR Maxx, at $249 that's only $10 a month on a 24 month contract and all things being equal I would probably keep it longer any way. However my ideal, at this point, would be another DX so I took a look at Ebay I figured that since Verizon isn't even offering it anymore that I could get one around $50.00, well that certainly isn't the case, I didn't even see any non working phones for $50.00. Besides buying a phone from Ebay might be risky since there is no real guarantee that it can be activated....and I just don't want the hassle.
So after boring every one with all this I guess the bottom line is are there another REPUTABLE sources for non contract phones, with good pricing, that can be activated on Verizon that anyone has had experience with?
Thanks
Ross
