needing app like line 2

I have logged all morning for an app that is like line 2. Needing new number to text some people with. But line 2 when I tried to send a text to one of the people it said it can't send it because they don't have line 2. I know there is an app for this cause a friend used it, but I can't get ahold of her right now.. Any suggestions?

I used the app called textPlus Free Text + Calls on my Nexus 7. It gives you a "fake" phone number. Just let the person you are texting know who you are.
