Don't want to clog up the forum with two threads on my first go, but if I must I will upon request.

Issue #1: Phone won't stay on wifi. Not reliably. Sometimes it will, most of the time I will connect to the router and it will constantly flicker on and off with "Connection Detected" in the notifications bar. Router is protected by WPA/WPA2. I type in the proper password, and continues to flash "Obtaining IP". It will flash sporadically, on and off like crazy. Then connect, just to lose connection later.

Originally we thought this was due to it being a Hidden SSID. Though I had the exact same problem as above, I was sometimes able to stay online with the phone on wifi. Sometimes for hours. However I got tired of manually searching for it every time I wanted to get on since the phone just refused to KEEP the IP address.

So we turned the broadcast on~ thinking that would solve the issue. It hasn't. I'm getting pretty fed up with it. I don't get good signal here either, and being on 3g data is absolutely useless where I am at. I can't get squat for signal for data even though it says 3g. (for voice, no problem)

Is it broken? Do I return it? I'm still within 30 days of the phone, so perhaps I should exchange it?

Issue #2: The phone reboots occasionally. For absolutely no reason whatsoever. It rebooted on me while on GPS Navigation today. Just rebooted and went back to desktop. Phone stats showed that it hadn't ever turned off either. Like it never freaking happened. This is the third time since I've owned it that I've witnessed this, but for all I know it happens in my pocket or on the desk while I'm not looking.

Is the phone borked? What should I do? Note the phone is not rooted at all. Should I return it to Verizon for a new one?

Shot in the dark but, how often do you reboot? Do you have a task killer app installed?

DroidForums junkie!

Just tried typing a ton of stuff here on my phone just to accidentally hit the back key by the left arrow. Wonderful...

To be brief, yes I have Advanced Task Killer installed but usually only try to run it on demand. I try. Not to reboot too often because this thing sometimes refuses to power up. I've held the power button down for over fifteen seconds once before I saw lights come on.

No workarounds, if its busted let me know. But if I'm doing something wrong, tell me what to do and I'll get to it. Thanks.

Hahahaha! I do that ALL the time!!
Uninstall the Task Killer and ALWAYS use the back button to exit applications vs the home button (I can give more details if you'd like). Has it always taken that long to turn back on??

DroidForums junkie!

Ok so I got rid of the task killer and rebooted. It started up fine, within a five second hold. The wifi situation is really aggravating though. I've googled and seen others with this exact problem on the X but not the Incredible... which screams to me a Motorola issue.

I've found threads saying this rebooting problem has affected the Incredible and the Droid 1 as well, but no explanation or solution.

Sent from my DROID2 using DroidForums App (after screaming at it a few times to connect to wifi)

I can't help on the wifi, mine seems iffy at times as well, but my wife got her D2 at the same time as me and hasn't had any problems. However, the power button isn't a press and hold type. I thought so too originally and noticed it sometimes took longer to power on. Just tap it (make sure you press it in all the way, this case I have makes it less obvious if I'm actually on the power button) and then let go and wait a sec, the Moto logo should come up almost right away if you do it right. :)

Sounds good. Seems my problems are rare enough that nobody else seems to have them. I'm going to swap phones if possible. Sucks because I put an sgp clear screen on it just last week too. -.-

Thank you about the power button thing. It only seems to have that issue sometimes. Sometimes during lock as well, getting the screen to pop back on is a pain. Had to download a NoLock app just to stop seeing it.

Wish me luck.

good luck, it's kinda funny, since I posted that my wifi has gotten worse here at the office. I can't connect to 2 different ap's that are available and other people near me are. I'm seriously considering exchanging it since I'm still within the 30 days, I'll stick with the D2 (they were buy one get one and wife needed a new phone too) but if I could finagle a DX out of it I'd give that a try, 2 of my bosses have them and have had no problems with wifi, 2 other coworkers have incredibles and have no problems, and my G1 worked on one of the 2 ap's consistently, the other it never could connect to, wish I knew someone else who had a D2 in my office to see if it's just me for sure, but I am inclined to think so.

Also I'm having a weird issue where the screen is registering multiple touches when I touch it just once, so I'm starting to wonder if this D2 has issues cause again, my wife's has been solid.

rebooting droid X

I have seen the same issue myself But, only with certian content. If I attempt to download a torrent I get dropped within 5 minutes and the phone locks up and reboots.

Otherwise the signal will sometimes drop and disconnect me but relaunching myfi connects me right back.

That being said; I purchased a Wilson Electronics MobilePro 800/1900 MHz wireless Smart tech amplifier. ($150) It has an in car plugin a usb plugin and external antenna with a window mount. In my location I had zero 3g bars and one 1x bar. THe amplifier boosted me to three to four bars 3G depending on the weather.

I have the same issue on my Droid 2 where the wifi hangs up the system and the phone either reboots, or doesn't respond. I have uninstalled the backup app as I was watching your thread, let's see how that goes.

I exchanged for a brand new Droid2 last night (I've only had the phone a little over a week) and so far the wifi seems much better, I was picking up AP's from a much further distance than the other D2 was able to. Seems to be doing better maintaining and connecting as well.

Went to the Verizon shop and he told me he could do the swap easy, but recommended I back up data and do a factory reset before doing so and I thought that was a legitimate thing to do. I did so~ got all my apps back in from the cloud and still had issues.

Did some more homework on this problem before going back the next day, got my roommate to just enable the router to pick one channel as it was set to channel hop occasionally. Why, I have no idea. Ever since then, believe it or not~ my wifi has gone completely steady.

Rock solid. I'm even trying to break it by restarting, forgetting it~ all sorts of nonsense. Picks it up every time and stays on. I recommend ensuring your router settings are set correctly during this, as well as ensuring "mixed-mode" isn't on if possible. Try to keep it on one specific mode instead of a/b/g or g and n, etc.

If this stays stable, I don't think I'll have to return it. Ever since ridding myself of the task killer, I haven't seen any reboots either, but it's hard to monitor that. Got ten days before I can't return it anymore... so wish me luck. (Watch it stop working after Dec 9, knowing my luck.)
