New and wanting to root!!!!

Hey i seen this root method about running the .bat file. Real easy it looks like but im also looking to find a method in case it gets stuck in bootloop. Im new to the phone coming from my droid x. Easy with a battery pull and starting over for the most part. Also my other question is if i would have to reactivate in any way with just rooting and installing safetrap. The reason i ask is cause im outside the network area being in alaska right now. But if thats the case ill wait till april when im back in the lower 48. Much help and learning about this phone is much appreciated. Thanks to all...
