New battery

I just purchased a new extended battery, and I plugged it, and it told me this battery can't be charged, and I should insert the stick battery?? It also wont give me accurate battery readings, it just has a stupid question mark. Can anyone help, or tell me what's going on?

I think its 3rd party. I got it from amazon, it says its for the DROID 3 but on it, it says replacement for xt-862

I just ordered an extended battery from Buy.com and had the same issue. I sent them an email using the order email and they sent me a new battery the next week. The second battery is good. I'm supposed to return the bad battery.
