New bionic restored from backup has old phone Mac address

Hi, I just got a replacement bionic from vzw due to a gps issue. When I restored my new phone from a back up I created with the bionic boot strapped recovery I noticed that my wi if Mac address was the same as my old phone. I thought Mac addresses were hard coded. Has anyone seen this?

It's not really an issue, less work and config for me... But I thought it was very interesting.

Running ICS .232 if that helps.

This happens sometimes if you dd a hard drive image to another one. It really shouldn't matter unless the device will be put on a network where only registered mac addresses are allowed to connect. You can usually comment out the old mac address using terminal emulator.

Breakfast beats worrying.

I have seen the same thing flashing a few ICS custom ROMs recently - I thought it was hard-coded too, but apparently it can be over-written - but, when I FXZ back to 905, the original MAC is restored
