New Contact Issue

[Gremlin]

I have my contacts backed up through Lookout and My Backup..
When I got the phone as new I was able to add new contacts no problem...
All of a sudden couple of months ago, when I add a new contact, i do not see it...
But if I dial the saved new phone number, name shows up as the one I saved it..

I rooted and installed ROM, it does the same thing... Any ideas?
