Hello everyone!
Just got my first Android phone, the Droid 2 and I'm completely psyched to read as much as I can here to really learn how to use it and customize it.

:welcome: to the Droid Forums. It's great as a stock phone too, I trashed most of the blurware.

If you need to find something let us know. We will point you in the right direction.

I was actually going to start reading about that. I've never owned any droid before this. IN fact I've never really even played with one, so I don't know the real difference between "stock" android 2.2 and what Motoblur has changed. Is there a thread that lists the differences or should I just google it? WHat are the real advantages of killing blur?

Well, quite honestly when I got the D2 I really wan't aware of what the Blur was. I just saw it as a bunch of garbage I didn't want on my homes screens and deleted it.

I suppose someone else might take a different view. I just preferred having my home screens set up with my live wallpaper and Beautiful Widgets.

Gotcha. I guess I just have a lot to learn about these. What widgets do you use the most/ are your favs?

The bloat takes up space but if you have space that doesn't matter. You can also try installing Launcher Pro or ADW from the market for a different experience on your phone. They manage your desktop and icons, are free, and you don't have to root your phone to do so.

Launcher Pro and ADW... cool I'll go take a look at those. Thanks for the info! Already really liking this forum. Nice to know you can still be a "noob" at something and get help.

With all the software, tools, and other goodies coming out for our phones constantly, I find that even after owning my Droid1 for almost a year now I'm still a noob in many areas of phone knowledge. There are so many areas you can dig deep into and learn.

You'll see :)
