3rd GB Leak .....

Downloading the GingerBreak Root utility and Deodexed GB .591 . Going to be coming from GB 588 themed with Watermark - Ill post an update on my success tonight. I hope this fixes the screen flicker in car dock mode!

Okay - that went quicker than I expected!

Well, I booted into CW - and flashed the zip. (NO WIPE OF ANY KIND) All went well. Stalled on the System and Firmware portions of the install, with no indication of progress, however I sat on my hands and left it alone.
1st Boot also took a while longer than "normal", but again, I left it alone!

When everything came up, my theme was gone (no shock there), and some previously frozen bloat came back - darn Madden - GO AWAY!

So far nothing seems out of the ordinary, and honestly, not noticing any differences yet either. Time will tell, now its off to see if I can re-theme this thing.

OK...I've been trying to be good and wait for the official update (actually, I've been too busy to work with it), but now I'm getting impatient!

DO IT!! I love it! :icon_ banana:
(And when the 'official' update is released, it looks like it can be rooted now too!)

Spoke too soon ....

I did loose root after flashing .591 after all.

Fully copied my SD Card and used the GingerBreak.apk, a wipe of cache only and a couple of long reboots, Root is back.

This release unroots the phone, and removes any opportunity to tether the phone other than signing up for the $20 2gb plan Verizon has.

aside from some trouble getting titanium to work, looks like its unchanged from 588 ... still smooth and appears stable so far ...

Sources? All I've been reading in the forums was that V was only dumping apps off the market. Where did you see it state that a) all tethering will be removed and b) you'd Have to sign up for the 2GB plan?

Did you have an issue with the prior leaked version when in Car dock mode and charging? My screen would dim, then snap right back to full brightness, then slowly dim, and back to full, and on .... and on...

i don't use docks, so haven't noticed, sorry ...

regarding brightness, when i have my phone set to auto it doesn't really dim much, it's always near max brightness. it does self-adjust the brightness, but it's always too bright ... in 573, 588 and now in 591.

I agree - and the darned buttons - I swear I'm back working at the airport, this time guiding airplanes onto a runway!
