I downloaded and tried to install the new Gmail 2.2.1. Is anyone else having a problem installing this? I download the apk and when I do to install it, all it says is "Application not installed." I am currently running 2.2. Anyone have a suggestion?
It needs to be "pushed" into the system using Terminal/ADB/ or Root Explorer, all three methods require Root Access (maybe not ADB) you cannot just select "install"
I got an error parsing package which probably means I need to download it from a computer and not my mobile browser, if it is signed it should install like you are expecting it to, unfortunately from where I am at I can't investigate it anymore

This happened to me today, but I found a way around it on another thread. Basically, go to Settings > Applications and clear data/cache. Use Titanium Backup and uninstall Gmail. Reboot. Now install 2.2.1 and it should go through. Hope this helps.
edit: hey just read the last couple of posts and saw this was posted. Glad to see you got it to work lol.
