New Gmail Won't Install

I downloaded and tried to install the new Gmail 2.2.1. Is anyone else having a problem installing this? I download the apk and when I do to install it, all it says is "Application not installed." I am currently running 2.2. Anyone have a suggestion?

It needs to be "pushed" into the system using Terminal/ADB/ or Root Explorer, all three methods require Root Access (maybe not ADB) you cannot just select "install"

I got an error parsing package which probably means I need to download it from a computer and not my mobile browser, if it is signed it should install like you are expecting it to, unfortunately from where I am at I can't investigate it anymore

I put the apk in my dropbox, and it installed fine.

second time I tried, it failed, so i reset my phone, and then tried installing it again and it worked.

Yea, I'm downloading it on a computer, then getting it to my phone with dropbox which I've never had a problem installing anything with.

I just rebooted my phone and tried it again......still doesn't work.

How do I "push" it?

Do you have adb installed on a PC somewhere?

If not, invest a couple of bucks in Root Explorer - you can just copy/paste the .apk.

I tried it already with root explorer and couldn't get it to work. But I found a thread another thread in a different and a got it to work.

"erase data and uninstall app via titanium then reboot and install with astro that worked for me"

Did that and got it to work! Thanks for the help!

I didn't push anything. I opened Astro File Explorer, found the APK file, clicked on it, hit upgrade, and done.

This happened to me today, but I found a way around it on another thread. Basically, go to Settings > Applications and clear data/cache. Use Titanium Backup and uninstall Gmail. Reboot. Now install 2.2.1 and it should go through. Hope this helps.

edit: hey just read the last couple of posts and saw this was posted. Glad to see you got it to work lol.
