new ICS help...

OK, so i just did the update to ICS via VZW ota on my droid4 and now when I use my tethering app, the wi-fi indicator pops up ( which it never did before) does anyone know if vzw can now track if/when people are tethering thier phones? I know the courts just ruled that vzw has to not block tethering app and that in thoery they can't track it when people are using it. but i am still weary. I have spent the majority of the past hour trying to find a forum post similar to my predicament. I have googled it and it seems that its too new to figure out... so i figured i would post something on here and see if anyone has any insight... and also now when tried to do the power + vol down button to do a reset, it took a screen shot, i was annoyed. so now what do you do to do the reset (other than turning the phone off and then back on again)? HELP! I feel like an idiot asking these questions but id rather be safe than sorry and have a crap storm brew with vzw.

They can't block you from downloading and using the tethering apps, they can still charge you for it. I believe they are allowing those on the Family shared plans to tether without an additional fee.

To reboot the phone, hold power and Volume down longer. Hold Volume down first (holding) then press and hold power to avoid taking a screen shot.

I too would like to know if they can track you. I am lucky enough to still have an unlimited data plan and don't like feeling big brother is looking over my shoulder should I need to use my iPad somewhere where there is no wireless.

you need to do an entitlement hack to MotorolaSettingsProvider.apk... i believe foxfi automatically does it but i actually hacked that file in all my roms. you can do it with sql editor as well.

sure they can track your ussage they always can if you hit about 5 gigs a month there gonna throttle you back
it dosen't matter if it's tehter or usage otherwise it's the amount
I do a lot and never have hit a gig a month yet but from reading some do many gig thats unreal to me
they must run it always and play music 24 hours a day

If you use FoxFi, you can turn your Droid into a WiFi hotspot and shouldn't need a driver.
