Hello and :welcome: to the Droid Forums.

The two most helpful things I can tell you is this: Forget everything you know about how a Blackberry runs, because this is a totally different OS. And the other thing is remember that this is a Google phone. Contacts, calendar, apps, are all backed up by Google so if you don't have a google account, start one today. See if you can find a way to move your contacts over to gmail because that will be the backup for your contacts, there is no Desktop Manager.
