Above is a mockup concept and may not be at all related to a final product.

In the past, we have shared rumors that Facebook was looking to develop their own smartphone. These rumors suggested everything from Facebook planning to build their own hardware, to Facebook teaming up with HTC on a Facebook branded and optimized smartphone. Apparently, the later rumor may turn out to be true. According to a report at Bloomberg, Facebook is indeed working with HTC on a deeply integrated Facebook phone. The only details that were given seem to suggest that Facebook is working with HTC on their own forked version of Android for the device. Other than that, there were no details spilled about hardware or a specific timeframe for release other than the hint of 2013.

What do you think? Could a Facebook focused Android phone flourish?

I was actually betting on FB to buy BlackBerry and use their hardware.

Will never buy. Death to fb. >.>

The phone pictured looks pretty cool minus the Facebook part.

Gee, their Beats relationship was so successful....I would never buy a phone that forces Facebook on me, as this no doubt will.

I think this thing could be very successful for those of us who use Facebook pretty frequently. I've been rather disappointed with HTC phones lately, though, so only time will tell how this turns out.

I find it interesting how practical and stylish these mockup concept phone designs are and yet the real version is typically not as stylish. If any phone looked like the one in that concept photo it would stand out from the crowd and be easily identifiable by others. Anymore these days people have to ask you what type of phone you have because it's not as blatantly obvious.

and this is exactly why HTC has been flopping in sales... beats.. and now facebook
idiots must be running their company if they think this is their answer to coming back strong...
htc should be focused on making another a serious phone thats comparable to the galaxy s3 and iphone but create new innovative features that will enchance their product, not waste time on junk ideas like this
