New to Android

Hello all. I am convert from Blackberry. I will be receiving my Droid X next week. I just had two questions before I got the device. First, what does it mean to root your droid? Also, what is a ROM? I see these two terms thrown around a lot and wanted to be familiar with them. Thanks.

Forget the rooting question. I just read the sticky on it. I would just like a more in depth explanation of what a ROM is.

a ROM is a custom operating system. As far as we know, Droid X has not been rooted as of yet. Head over to the Custom Rom section and take a look.
