I just got my phone last night, first time ever even holding one, so I aplogize if I get a couple terms wrongs. I have 3 questions so far.

1) I have the haptic feedback turned off under the sound settings, yet it still does it when I use the soft keys, on screen lock, and when moving/resizing widgets and shortcuts. Is there another setting I'm missing?

2) I have an event scheduled on the calendar for every monday. It constantly displays it on the widget, even though it's not for another week. Is there a way to change the calendar settings so that it only appears on that day, or possibly closer to the time it occurs? If not, what would be the best app to use in place of it?

3) Is it really necessary to have all the programs running in the background? It seems like some are unnecessary and would just be using up the battery.

I'll tackle #3 for you. When applications are in the background they are usually not using any resources, and are in fact more easily described as "sleeping"

Android os just keeps things readily available so it needs less work to call them up. This is one of those few instances where you can kick back and relax and let the phone do its thing.

Try downloading Jorte from the market. I find it very helpful.

Btw, I'm referring to question number 2.

I saw they weren't using a lot of resources, it just seemed like there were a lot running, thank you for clarifying.

Just downloaded Jorte, seems to be what I wanted. Thank you.

Its understandable to question. Its one of those learning cuve things. I felt the same way when I got my d2, and also why so many people subscribe to the myth of task killers.

I read that task killers are bad, so I'm staying away from those

To avoid starting a new thread, should I go ahead and upgrade to 2.3.20? I searched but couldn't really find anything. I'm not rooted or anything, but probably will once I get more familiar with the phone.
